Season 2009/2010 - Fight For The Title
11 Jun 2009

Holbank got off to a great start to the 2009/2010 Season. They beat Legionaires 2-0 and Dunes FM Reserves 8-1 in the SDL Remembrance Cup. They started their league fixtures with a bang when they beat Muni Flex 5-2 away on Thursday 3rd September. They finished their September round of games with 4 wins and 1 defeat.

October saw them continue their fine League form with 3 wins from 3. They however did go out of the LCFA Cup 2nd Round in a 4-2 (AET) defeat to Division 3 team Woodlyn. They finished the month top of the league with a 3 point lead.

November saw Holbank have an equally impressive month. With 3 wins and 1 loss, they set a new Holbank record of 8 straight league wins. The team's only defeat came at the hands of 2nd Place and Portland Rivals Northway. However the team stayed top of the table and favourites to claim the Division 2 Title, but the job would be much harder. Richard McGregor also set a new club record with 2 very impressive hat tricks in a row against Dales and Scairsbrick Hotel Reserves.

December 2009 was a washout with all games being called off due to the 'Big Freeze' Britain suffered. So 2009 ended with Holbank top of Division 2 and with a slender 1 win advantage over Northway.

January 2010, started much the same as December 2009 finished under the 'Big Freeze'. Again all Holbank and SDL games were canceled and it also delayed the Memorial Cup. Holbank remained top for the month due to their rivals playing a few games but dropping points. The side also announced the signings of Kyle Lewis (essentially until the end of the season) from the newly formed Reserve side and Danny O'Malley.

February 2010 was again hit by some bad weather but we at least saw some football in the SDL. Holbank returned from the Big Freeze like they entered it with a 4-3 defeat at Altcar, which meant they slipped to 3rd their lowest position since the end of September 2009. It got better though with the team clawing themselves back to the Top of the table with 2 consecutive 3-1 wins at VIG and then at home against Dales.

March proved to be a stale month for the Bank. With only 5 points from a possible 12 being achieved. Their slip ups to the likes of Muni Flex (1-2), Ship Reserves (3-3), and St Georges (2-2) let Muni Flex and Northway finish the month 1st and 2nd respectively. However Holbank did seem to be best placed for the League title and promotion. Their only win came when they best Scarisbrick Hotel Reserves 5-2 at Home, which all but relegated the promoted side.

April 2010 will go down as Holbank's proudest and best month of their short history. It was the month they lifted the SDL Division 2 title and were promoted to Division 1. The side were unbeaten in the league through April with wins over Wyke Cop Reserves (4-0), Wright Surveyors (3-5 and 4-0). The win 4-0 win over Wright Surveyors at Portland Street won them the league and promotion. They then went and drew 2-2 at Hartwood, which secured Hartwood's Division 2 future. Harrington Reserves beat Holbank 7-2 in the SDL Remembrance Charity Cup which was the teams only defeat. But the month will always be remembered as the month that won Holbank their first piece of silverware.

Holbank announced the new signings of - Danny Hayden, Matthew Hutchinson, Jack Medlicott, Gary Spencer Burton and Louis Nolan.
Holbank began the season with a 5-0 defeat at home to Dunes and then lost again to Dunes 8-0 in their joint-biggest defeat in their history. Holbank battled on a found some ground through October and November. They also got through the First Round of the Memorial Cup. They then hit a bump in the road through late November and December which included a humiliating 5-0 defeat to local and fierce rivals Portland Reserves.
The club started the 2009 with a win but then lost 4 on the bounce and didn't win a game until February 15th. In that time they slumped to 3rd bottom and were knocked out of the Memorial Cup by Portland Street rivals and 3rd Division side Northway 4-2 at home. They went on to beat Muni Flex 3-1 in their best win of the season and won 2 of their last 6 games, with them drawing 1 and losing the other 3. Holbank ended the season with a 4-2 home defeat to arch rivals Portland Reserves, which meant Holbank would finish 8th and Portland Reserves 7th.
;;
Holbank held their AGM and Awards Night on 21st May 2009 and the biggest news was that Richard McGregor began a new era at the club as Player-Chairman.

Year 2008 - Promotion and a Semi-Final
11 Jun 2009

When 2008 came around Holbank couldn't believe the position they were in. 4th in the league in their first season, going well in the cup and no yellow or red cards. They had just battered local rivals Portland Reserves 2-0 and had signed George McGregor as Head Coach and Goalkeeper. The team continued its fantastic form through the last half of the season narrowly missing out on a place in the final of the Memorial Cup. The club also missed out on 3rd place in the league by a point but still managed promotion to Division 2. The club also made history for the SDL and achieved no yellow cards or red cards in the whole of the 2007/2008 season, something which got them Team of the Year for 2007/2008. The AGM was held at the Guesthouse Pub, Southport on 29th May 2008. A good attendance with the majority of players joining in for our second AGM. The new rules where all accepted, some after discussion, which can now be found on the team documents section incorporating the new rules in the Constitution. It was also agreed that George McGregor would look at Club injury insurance. George has also managed to secure a donation of £250 from his company. The minutes from the previous years AGM were accepted as correct. The statement of accounts was also accepted. A review of the season for last year also brought up some interesting reading. Details on the Team documents. Food was provided and the players took full advantage of the brimming plates, shifting everything in front of them.
